Hi! I'm Barbara Hendrix, Career Development Coordinator for South Davidson High School. I hope you will find this site useful for thinking about a career direction, selecting your high school courses, getting a job, and much more.
Let me introduce myself! I joined the South Davidson family in September of 2013, coming from the classroom teaching Family and Consumer Sciences in Rowan County. I have also taught English for Speakers of Other Languages, substitute taught, been a stay at home mom, counseled women in nutrition for the Women, Infants and Children program, been a county Cooperative Extension Agent for 4-H and Home Economics, and waited tables (in my high school and college days).
In high school, I had no idea what I wanted to do for a career. Maybe you are in the same place right now. That's ok! Just get headed in a general direction that's right for you, and you will likely have many different rewarding jobs, just like me. Most people will have an average of 7-10 jobs in their lifetime, and many jobs do not even exist yet. Don't feel you have to get it perfect right now. You never know what opportunities the future holds for you!
If I can help you in the process, come by my office. I am usually at South on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, but hours may vary.
